In 1964 Conant opened its doors and became the first comprehensive high school in Township High School District 211. The school was named for James B. Conant, a noted educator and president of Harvard University who had studied the comprehensive high school. Today Conant is still a comprehensive high school that offers over approximately 230 different courses to the students who attend.
