Speech Team

 

The Forensics Team is dedicated to the spirit of speech competition. With twelve Forensics events to choose from, each student can compete in as many as two events per tournament.

The twelve events are as follows:

 

Original Comedy An original comedy routine.
Humorous Interpretation A presentation of humorous literature involving more than two characters.
Dramatic Interpretation A presentation of dramatic literature involving more than two characters.
Humorous Duet Acting A humorous acting scene between two people.
Dramatic Duet Acting A dramatic acting scene between two people.
Verse An oral poetry presentation.
Prose An oral interpretation of literature.
Impromptu Student draws a topic, prepares and delivers a speech in eight minutes. The norm would be a 3-4 minute preparation, and 4-5 minute speech.
Oratorical Declamation An interpretation of material prepared by another person.
Original Oratory An original persuasive speech.
Extemporaneous Speaking After a preparation period, the student presents a six minute speech on a current event.
Radio

A newscast, including a commercial.

 

 

Meets are held on Saturdays at area high schools. State competition follows with districts, sectionals, and state.
