1. Five (5) team members, one (1) team member being designated captain shall play at one time.
2. A member of the Varsity team may not play on the Frosh-Soph team. Frosh-Soph team members may play on the Varsity team for any particular meet; they may not participate in the Frosh-Soph
contest during the meet
3. Students can be substituted at any time during the meet.
4. All meets will be dual (i.e., they involve only two schools).
5. Each meet shall consist of four rounds of questions.
A round consists of:
10 Toss-Up Questions 10 points each (10 seconds to answer non computational
30 seconds to answer computational)
10 bonus questions Scoring per current IHSA
state tournament terms and
conditions.

anwer)
6. The moderator will read a toss-up question which will be answered by an individual after being recognized by the moderator. No conferring is allowed. The answer must be started within three
(3) seconds (as determined by the moderator/timer) after being recognized. If the answer is correct, the team will receive ten (10) points and the opportunity to answer a bonus question.
7. If an individual pre-empts a toss-up question and answers incorrectly, the moderator will repeat the entire question. At the completion of the entire question, any member of the opposing
team has ten (10) seconds to press the response button and answer the question.
8. Once a toss-up question has been completely read, it will not be repeated.
9. The time will start at the completion of the reading of the toss-up question. The clock will continue to run for (10) seconds or until one (1) team has responded, whichever occurs first.
10.If one (1) individual incorrectly answers a toss-up question that has been completely read by the moderator, an individual from the opposing team may press the response button within the
remainder of the original ten (10) seconds or three (3) seconds, whichever is longer.
11. Bonus questions that consist of three (3) parts shall receive four (4) points for each correctly answered part; four (4) part questions shall receive three (3) points for each correctly
answered part. During the reading of the bonus question, students may use paper and pencil. A maximum of 30 seconds conference time will be permitted for each bonus question. Only the team awarded the bonus question
may ask for a repeat of the question, within the time constraints.
12. Both teams should confer during the thirty (30) second conference time. All discussion, passing of papers and writing will cease when the team to whom the bonus question was awarded
indicates its readiness to answer. the moderator will ask the captain of the designated team to either answer or appoint someone to answer. Whoever answers the question can receive no aid after starting the
response. if that happens, the parts following the aid will not count. The moderator will decide if an infringement of this rule has occurred.
13. Parts not answered correctly or those disqualified by the moderator will rebound to the other team.
14. Immediately after the moderator has indicted the parts remaining, the captain of the second team, or designated team member, will answer the indicated parts without further consultation.
15.Players may not talk during the reading of or answering of a toss-up question. the team with the player who has talked out of turn will forfeit
