Pat comes from a long line of firefighters. His Great-grandfather was a Chicago Firefighter back when horses pulled the wagons through the streets.
Pats Grandfather won the prestigious Lambert Tree award for bravery in a fire rescue. Pats Father was a volunteer working his way up the ranks as Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief, and then Chief. Dad O'Shea tragically passed away in 1992 from complications after inhaling smoke during a Hoffman Estates Fire. Pats Uncle and Brother Fran all heard the call to fight fires. Today Pat and Fran are assigned to the same firehouse. In 1973 Pat was hired to the Hoffman Estates Department. In 1974 Pat was hired on the the Chicago Fire Department. He was assigned to Ambulance #44 where he recalls one of the most dangerous few days on the job, the Humboldt Park Riots. Firefighters were dispatched to the riot areas to help restore order. Pat found himself in the middle of a furious crowd. Angry rioters broke out the windows of the ambulance he was in as they tried to overturn and set fire to the rescue vehicle. In 1979 Pat came on to work for the city of Schaumburg where he is stationed today.
