3rd Class Petty Officer Juan Garcia '98
Juan is serving in the Persian Gulf aboard the USS Valley Forge, a missile guided ship traveling with the USS Constellation.  His scores on the Navy's rigorous testing placed Juan in a favorable position for advancement.  After completing electrical schooling he was given the responsibility of overseeing the electrical engineers aboard the Valley Forge.  Juan's electrical expertise helps keep the ship moving.  Going without sleep is an on going possibility since being on call twenty-four hours a day is part of the job.  Juan comes from a very patriotic family his mother explained.  "He is receiving a lot of family support.  We are proud of our son.  We have not seen him since October 2002.  He has been out to sea since November 2002."
