Andy was exposed to the career of a  Firefighter/Paramedic by a relative. Hearing stories of day-to-day experiences caused Andy to see firefighting as a fascinating career.  "Being taken on ride-alongs really peaked my interest" Andy said. After graduating Conant in 1991 Laird went to college earning a teaching degree in Physical Education.  Still, Andy felt the pull tword the Fire Department.
After going through the rigerious testing process, Andy made the eligible list. Today Andy is enjoying a fulfilling career
